Behind the Mixing Board

Colton is a sound designer and composer focused on creating immersive sonic experiences for film. His passion for sound began at a young age through studying piano, later expanding to trumpet and other instruments before eventually leading him to compose his own music. As his creative interests grew, he became increasingly drawn to experimental techniques inspired by musique concrète and avant-garde classical music, developing a fascination with manipulating and creating entirely new sounds.

Colton earned his Bachelor’s degree in Music with a concentration in composition from Georgia Southern University, where his lifelong love of cinema led him toward scoring for picture. He later traveled to Italy to participate in a screen scoring program, further refining his approach to storytelling through music.

He is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Sound Design at the Savannah College of Art and Design, where he has collaborated closely with emerging filmmakers across a wide range of projects. Working alongside passionate directors has strengthened his ability to shape sound around story, character, and emotion while continuing to refine his craft.

Colton’s goal is to work in film as a sound designer, composer, and re-recording mixer, combining his passion for sound and cinema to create impactful and memorable storytelling experiences.
